Should Bush force people to fight in the military?

At my school, we doing a unit on the 1930s in English. We picked topics to write about for our essay. I picked the topic, Should USA citizens be forced to serve in the military for 2 years? That's called military draft.Why or why not? In the poll, select yes or no or i don't know. then give your reason. There are rumors going around that Bush may force people to fight in the Iraq war.

you're right..it IS hard to take a side.....sometimes it might be vital to make people fight and defend their country but other times ppl shouldn't be made to do something they don't want to do.

Imo, it really depends on the situation. If a person likes serving their conutry in the military, then being forced to serve it for two years doesn't really affect them. But then again, if they like it in the first place, they're not really forced to serve for 2 years.

For those who don't want to be in the military in the first place, being forced into the military for two years...well yea, it's kinda hard to decide. Imo, it isn't right if Bush forces the people who don't want to go into the military without their or anyone else's say. Now that I think about it, didn't the U.S. Constitution declare the U.S. a free country for all. Meaning the government cannot force people to do something against their own will. So if Bush is going to force people into the military for two years or force people into the battle of Iraq, isn't he going against the Constitution and breaking his word to the country he's suppose to protect?

Also, people have friends and family. If Bush forces people out into the heat of battle, he would be doing a wrong to their love ones. There is always the chance of the victims of this action of dying out there in the war. And what would that bring to their love ones? Pain? Misery? Isn't Bush suppose to make sure everyone in the U.S. is happy? There's a difference to losing a love one to war because they chose to go and losing one that didn't. If their love one chose to go to war and died, I guess it wouldn't be as much of a crushing blow to their hearts because they knew their love one died doing something he/she liked and serving their country. But for the people that lost a love one because that love one died doing something against his own will...that's a different story.

Weird, I voted don't know but after I read over what I typed, I seem to be going towards the no choice. And wasn't Bush the person that started the war in Iraq int he first place? So shouldn't he try to solve the problem? Not forcing his people and abusing their loyalty?
